Creating an Account
The first time you place an order with us online you will be asked to complete customer information, including shipping and billing addresses. This will allow you to track your orders online and will streamline placing future orders. This information is never shared with any third parties. You can also choose to place your order as a “guest”.

Accessing/Changing Account Information
To modify your account information at any time, click on My Account at the very top of the page.  After you log in, you will be able to view your recent orders and order history, view and update your contact and address information, shipping preferences and password.

Password Help
If you forget your password, click on Forgot Your Password?, fill in the information requested and a new password will be emailed to you.  If the email account you used to set up your account is no longer valid, contact us at and we can provide you with a temporary password.


Placing an Order
Orders may be placed online and by phone, mail or FAX.  We can accept phone orders at 866.759.7373 Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET. Please be sure to include your phone number on mail or FAX orders.

We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover credit cards.  Checks and money orders must be in U.S. funds; orders will be shipped once payment has cleared. 

Changing/Cancelling an Order
Once you have placed an order online, it cannot be updated. To change or cancel an order, please call us at 866.759.7373 as soon as possible and we will try to accommodate the change.  If the order has already shipped, we will not be able to make the change and our return/exchange policy will apply.

Backorders/Partial Orders
If we are temporarily out of an item in your order but are expecting to receive it within a week or less, we may hold your order to ship everything at once.  Occasionally, if an item will not be available for an extended period (as in pre-order situations or when we are awaiting items from our suppliers), we ship the available items immediately and will ship the remaining items as soon as we can.

You will be notified if an item is backordered. You can also track your order from My Account on our website.

Checking Order Status
You can check the status of your online order by clicking on My Account at the top of our website and logging in. You can also reach us at 866.759.7373 and at during our customer service hours.

Processing/Shipping Time
We try to ship orders within three to five business days of receiving them.  Many are shipped faster. Some orders may take longer to process including: custom kit orders, orders with very large numbers of cut fabrics, and orders that include a back-ordered item.

Using Promotion Or Discount Codes
Some special offers require you to enter a promotion or discount code in the Promotion Code box during Checkout. This lets us know that you are eligible for the special savings. At this time, the Promotion Codes are not tied to any kind of automated discounting system, so any applicable discount will NOT be reflected in your order total.  We will make the adjustment when we process your order prior to charging your credit card.

We collect the appropriate state taxes when the Ship To or Billing address is in the state of Virginia. There is no sales tax due on class fees or gift certificates. (Supply kits for classes are taxable.)

When You Receive Your Order
As soon as you receive your order, please check it (including kit contents) to make sure that everything is correct. You might have ordered a fabric in error, or we might have cut it incorrectly.  (Although we aim to get it right the first time, we’ve been known to make the occasional mistake!) To return or exchange an item, see our policies below. (Of course, we will correct our errors without any additional charges.)  Let us know of any problems with the order either by contacting us at or 866.759.7373 during Customer Service Hours.


You can return most items within two weeks of the date of delivery for store credit. Cut fabric and kits incur a 15% re-stocking fee. Shipping charges are not refundable. Items must be returned in re-sellable condition.  Sale items, books, patterns, CDs, gift certificates, and autographed items cannot be returned.

Returns must be accompanied with a copy of the Order Receipt/Invoice. We need the purchaser’s name, phone number, billing address and email address to ensure proper credit.  Unless we have made the error, you are responsible for shipping charges. Please address returns to:

Shipping Costs
The shipping estimate provided when you place your order is just that – an estimate based on the expected weight and destination of the items ordered. The shipping price may be adjusted up or down to reflect the final shipping cost when your order is processed.

We try to ship your items as cost-effectively as possible using the delivery service you select. Bulky or oversized items, or those requiring special packaging, may incur additional charges.

When there is a significant discrepancy in the estimated versus final shipping charge (this happens rarely, but more often with international delivery addresses), we will try to contact you via email prior to shipping.

Shipping Options

U.S. Delivery
We use a variety of shipping options from the US Postal Service and UPS. We use USPS exclusively for orders delivered to non-continental U.S. addresses.

Expedited Shipping:  Please note that the shipping time must be added to typical order fulfillment timeframes. If you require a package to be delivered by a particular deadline, please call us at 866.759.7373 during Customer Service hours to discuss options. 

We ship international orders via the US Postal Service, generally in International Priority Mail Flat Rate packaging. We can pack up to seven yards of fabric in a flat-rate envelope, up to twelve yards in a medium flat-rate box, and up to twenty-two yards in a large flat-rate box. Hard-cover books must be shipped in flat-rate boxes. If your order is too large for flat rate packaging, shipping charges are based on weight and destination.

International packages are insured by the US Postal Service up to certain limits, depending upon packaging.

Customs, taxes, and brokerage fees may apply to international orders. The Customer is responsible for all fees of this nature.  Packages will be marked to accurately reflect contents; we cannot mark packages as “gifts”.


Gift Certificates
If you have a JINNY BEYER STUDIO gift certificate, enter the certificate number in the Promotion Code box during checkout. Gift certificates are not tied into our checkout process, so the discount will not be reflected in your order total. We will make the adjustment when we process your order prior to charging your credit card.

Finding Jinny Beyer Products Locally
We encourage you to support your local quilt shops by buying Jinny Beyer fabric and quilts directly from them. To find one near you, click on Store Locator under the Information header at the bottom of any page on our website.

We understand that many customers do not live in locations convenient to a quilt shop that stocks Jinny’s products. For that reason, Jinny is pleased to be able a wide variety of current and older fabrics, exclusive quilt kits, and favorite notions and gifts on her web site.


Subscribers to Jinny’s newsletters receive periodic emails including information on new fabric and product releases, special promotions, free tips and patterns. Email information is never shared with third parties. Subscribers choose the type and frequency of emails they want to receive.

JINNY BEYER STUDIO was founded by renowned quilt and fabric designer, Jinny Beyer, in 2000. The retail shop stocks Jinny’s fabrics, kits, patterns and books, as well as wonderful gift items. It is located in Great Falls, Virginia, just east of Washington, D.C. Click on the purple VISIT THE STUDIO button at the upper right for more details on the shop.

The website was launched in 1997 to help serve customers who could not find Jinny’s fabrics and products at a quilt shop nearby. We are happy to serve customers from around the world, including some in very remote areas.

We do not wholesale fabric. If you are a shop and are interested in fabric designed by Jinny Beyer, please contact the manufacturer, RJR Fabrics.

We do wholesale a number of JINNY BEYER STUDIO exclusive patterns, and a variety of products related to Jinny's fabric basics line, The Quilters Palette Collection.  These include the Portable Palette color tool and Jinny’s 150-piece Quilter’s Palette swatch sets. Please contact us for more information.


Jinny Beyer Fabric
Jinny’s fabric is 100% cotton and is manufactured by RJR Fabrics. Most fabric is 42” – 45” wide.

Fabric Samples
We know:  sometimes you just have to see it! We would be happy to send you up to three swatches per request. Be sure to include as much detail as possible in your request, including the style numbers of any specific fabrics you’d like to see. You can email us or send us a note via the postal service – this is particularly helpful if you’d like us to try to match a fabric. We appreciate it if you can include a stamped, self-addressed envelope.

Why We Tear Our Fabric
At JINNY BEYER STUDIO, when you order fabric yardage, we usually tear rather than cut the yardage requested. Although loose threads can make things a little messier than cutting, tearing ensures that you receive usable yardage in the complete length you requested. To Pre-Wash or Not?
Some quilters pre-wash everything to avoid potential issues with shrinkage or loose dye; others prefer to work with unwashed fabric and choose not to pre-wash. Staff at JINNY BEYER STUDIO fall into both camps. Jinny’s fabrics are first-quality cottons created specifically for quilters, so we suggest that you follow your preferred approach with Jinny Beyer fabric.

The manufacturer's care instructions are as follows:

Prewashing all new fabrics (yard goods or precut patches) before using them in a quilt ensures that there will be no uneven shrinkage and no transfer of colors when the quilt is laundered.

Unfold all fabric before putting into the washing machine.

Wash light-colored fabrics in lukewarm water with a phosphate free detergent.

Soak dark-colored fabrics individually in cold water for at least half an hour to set the dyes and then machine wash in cold water with a phosphate-free detergent.

Tumble fabrics almost dry, then remove from dryer and press with an iron. To avoid wrinkling, do not put more than six yards of fabric in dryer at one time.

Precut samples or kit pieces should not be machine washed and dryed. Being careful not to overhandle, separate these pieces into piles of same-colored patches, and preshrink them by soaking in cold water. If color bleeds, repeat until water runs clear. Place patches on toweling or white paper towels to dry.

For satisfactory results, please follow the above instructions before using these fabrics. Quilts made with both light and dark colored fabrics should only be washed in cold water.

Some of our Palette Collection kits include 150 different fabric swatches. If you choose to wash them according to the manufacturer's suggestions, you must take extra care to ensure that the fabrics stay in the original order provided in the kit.


Copying Patterns/Copyright Protection
All our patterns are copyright-protected with copyrights owned either by Jinny Beyer or by RJR Fabrics. Jinny personally asks you to respect her intellectual property and her rights as a designer. If the following information isn’t clear or if you have additional questions, please contact Customer Service.

Patterns that you purchase are for personal use only. They cannot be copied or distributed (for free or for profit). Patchwork templates or foundation patterns included in a pattern may be copied as necessary to create your personal quilt.

We are often asked whether a quilting guild can copy a pattern for use in a class or in the production of a raffle quilt. The answer remains the same: a purchased pattern is protected by copyright laws and cannot be copied or distributed in any way. If multiple copies are required, they must each be purchased. Patterns that are free downloads may be freely copied and distributed.

If you choose to show a quilt made from a Jinny Beyer pattern or adapted from one of her designs, you must credit Jinny Beyer as the designer.

Pattern Corrections/Updates
We work hard to ensure that our patterns have been appropriately tested and are clearly written. However, errors can and do slip by us. We assume no liability for any errors. Corrections to patterns are posted when available.

If the pattern is a free download, we will post a corrected version on our website as we become aware of the error.

Downloading Free Patterns
Jinny makes many of her patterns available as free downloadable PDFs.  To view and print the patterns, you need to have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. If you do not have Acrobat Reader installed, you can get it at


What’s Included
Our kits generally include a pattern plus all the fabrics needed for the quilt top, borders and binding. The kit description provides details, as well as information on backing yardage requirements and fabric suggestions.

Fabrics in the kit are usually provided in the Fabric Number order specified in the pattern. So although we know you want to take the fabrics out right away, it’s best not to disturb the fabric order until you’re reviewed the pattern!

Fabric yardage for the kits is generous, allowing for the occasional cutting error. Pay attention to any cutting order or layout specified in the pattern to ensure you have sufficient fabric for longer or large pieces. Please note that Jinny prefers her borders to be seam-free whenever possible, so the fabric for borders in our kits is usually provided in lengthwise cuts so no piecing is required.

Custom Kits
We often get requests to make up a Jinny Beyer quilt kit in a special colorway or size. Although some patterns are more challenging than others to change, we will consider most requests. Custom kitting fees generally range from $20 to $50 depending on the complexity of kit. In addition, we require additional time to prepare a custom kit order so plan ahead! The Quilter's Design Board (formerly called Block-A-Week) is a free block resource and design space. Once or twice a month, Jinny adds a new block to the Design Board, usually in three common block sizes: 6", 10" and 12".  You can download the templates and a Template Guide which shows you how to assemble the block. The downloads are PDFs; to read them, you must have Adobe's free Adobe Reader installed. (You can download the Reader at

To build a digital version of the quilt, click the Launch the Design Board button. You can play with the blocks and borders, and get complete yardage requirements, too.
