American Patchwork & Quilting Profiles Jinny

December 02, 2011

Two of our visitors from APQ

Earlier this year, a crew of editors and photographers came to Virginia to visit Jinny at home and at the shop.  It was all very top-secret , but now you can see the results in the February 2012 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting magazine.

The magazine includes a great profile of Jinny and a feature on the project she was working on at the time -- a tumbling blocks quilt for the baby her daughter, Kiran, was expecting at the time.  APQ called the quilt, Building Blocks, but around here we refer to it as "Emmett's quilt"!  (Emmett is now five months old.) The magazine includes the pattern and a detailed lesson and tips on sewing the patches together.

We've put together a starter kit for the quilt.  It includes all the fabric you need to make the quilt top, but if you want the super-scrappy look in Jinny's version, you should plan to add some blue and green fabrics from your stash.

Even if you don't have the magazine, you can see some amazing photos from APQ's visit.  They've put together a Designer Showcase slide show which you can view online at the link below.
