Quilters' Quest 2010

November 15, 2010

The day I left for India was also the first day of our local shop hop, Quilters’ Quest 2010. JINNY BEYER STUDIO is one of the eleven shops that participated this year.

Most years, I’m at the shop every day of the Quest. This year, I was able to greet our first “questing quilters” but then it was up to the shop staff to keep it all going! And to handle the bus of quilters which arrived on Saturday afternoon!

Jane, Linda and Barb open
the door at 9:30 sharp!
Here I am with our very first Questers,
Kathy & Charles Stackhouse.
Some of my wonderful staff who kept the Questers
happy with smiles and chocolate.

The Quest is a fun way for quilters to visit quilt shops in the region that they might not get to otherwise. And we try to make it worth the trip.  Each shop creates a special Quilters Quest quilt using a common set of blocks and palette of fabrics and seeing how each shop has set the blocks is always fascinating.

At the Studio, quilters picked up a kit for our block  . . . registered for our daily drawing . . . wandered around looking for our scavenger hunt item  . . . ate chocolate . . . and (surprise!) bought fabric and kits!

Those who completed the quest by visiting all eleven shops were entered in a special drawing for some amazing prizes and received a Quilters Quest tote bag at the last shop they visited.  We sweetened the deal a little bit including some items donated by the Studio, Aurifil Thread and my publisher, Breckling Press.

Wanda Wade (l) and Margaret Proctor (r) were our first two finishers.  They choose to finish at JINNY BEYER STUDIO every year!

I’m doubly looking forward to next year’s Quest since I missed so much of this year’s.  Of course, I won’t be “missing” it for long . . . we’ve already had our first planning meeting for 2011!

Happy Quilting!
