As Busy as Elves

January 06, 2011

I thought you might like a sneak peek at the inside of the Studio as we work away on your orders for the sale fabrics this week.  Normally, we don't like to share pictures of our work space because it is a very messy place.  We usually have four "elves" working on your orders throughout a typical week but we had to bring in the reinforcements when your orders started coming in.

We dedicated our classroom for cutting, and our mail order space was a flurry of order processing, packing, labeling and shipping.

We had every sale bolt of fabric out and ready to be cut.  (That's Sandi in the back searching for one.)
After packing your orders and making sure we've got everything you ordered, we process your credit card and put the tape gun to work.
We do our best to cram as much into Priority Flat-Rate mailers for our international customers to keep the shipping costs as low as possible.

We are really only a very small operation, so a very popular sale week can have us working like crazy to fill orders.  Fortunately, staff members -- and some customers -- shared their home-baked goodies with us so a cookie was always nearby to give us that extra burst of energy!

Although we go home tired during weeks like these (it's physically tiring to tear and fold fabric, tape boxes and move them around our work area), it's also exciting to send fabric on to new homes!

Happy Quilting!
